1. What is the purpose of this website? 2. Who are you? 3. How did it start? 4. How will the resources be generated? 5. Who is in charge of running this project? 6. Who can lay bricks? 7. How will I benefit from this project? 8. Why $200, not less? 9. For how long will this website remain online?
To establish a scholarship fund worth $2M of which only the interest will be used to help successful students have a modern education opportunity that they cannot afford. This website is the first of its kind in Turkiye. Graduates of Tarsus American College live a successful life both in Turkey and abroad in consistence with the school’s motto “Leaders for Turkey, leadership for the world”. We are committed to help the persistence of this tradition and carry it forward for the generations to come.
This website was created following these principles and goals
We are members of the Tarsus American College Alumni Association executive board. You might want to have a look at www.tac-alumni.org for more info on our association.
Our association has been providing scholarship for a very long time. Ali Cerrahoğlu came up with the idea of creating a website that will live forever to establish and support a scholarship fund. A group of people from the association is running this project.
Our school’s symbol, the Stickler, has been divided into 10,000 equivalent pieces – “bricks”. Theme of this project is to rebuild the Stickler by laying “bricks” online. Each brick is worth $200 and once the Stickler is rebuilt, resources worth $2M will have been generated. Only the front part of the Stickler, together with the bust of Ataturk will be unavailable to lay bricks on. This is to remind that the generated resources will be used for modern education and these structures will always remain where they are.
Ali Cerrahoğlu, Umut Yalnız, Ongun Tan and Çağlar Yılgör are in charge of running this project on behalf of Tarsus American College Alumni Association.
Anyone regardless of the high school they graduated from can lay bricks. You may follow the procedure starting with deciding which spot to lay your bricks and take your place in the internet history!
Photos, logos or any type of images of your choice linking to any website on the internet will be placed as “bricks” in our website. Thousands (if not millions) of visitors every month will have a look into our website and your “hit count” will increase day after day. Don’t forget to check out the statistics of the website you link to your bricks after they are laid!
To ensure continued scholarship support, interest of the generated income will be used. Once the power of our alumni is considered, it’ll be easier to realize that this amount is realistic. The website consists of “bricks” of 10x10 pixels. This way, we’ll build the Stickler by laying these bricks.
There is no planned end date, for this website - it’ll live as long as possible. Today, when everything, especially the changes in the internet, is happening really fast; you may gain persistence by “laying a brick” yourself.
